A tutorial you might find useful: Organic Mossy Floral Installation
Want to create a design that looks like it's growing up out of the ground? Let's do it.
This is my absolute favourite way to design, I LOVE the concept of nature coming back to take over a man-made structure.
A few thoughts when creating a design like this:
1. Wild, organic and overgrown doesn't mean throw everything in without intention.
It almost means that you need to be even more considerate of your flower types, shape and placement. We're still artists creating with a floral medium and we need to ensure we're applying the design principles to our work.
2. Allow negative space and edit where necessary.
As florists wanting to give more value we often feel "More is more". This can actually detract from a design and make it feel messy, busy or amateur. Master the art of the edit and don't be afraid to take stems out.
3. Keep it simple.
You don't need to over complicate this with too many styling pieces or fancy blooms. If the stems are wild, keep everything else minimal to balance it out. Save yourself prep time if you don't need to remove leaves, save even more by prepping your mechanics prior. I love a low labour design that allows for an enjoyable process and a high profit margin.
