Exceed expectations at every touchpoint in your wedding floristry workflow

business business growth floristry business wedding florist

I've been in the wedding floristry game for over 13 years now and I feel fairly confident in all things wedding related but it wasn't always the case.

There was a time when I didn't know the difference between the ceremony and the reception.

I also didn't know the names of any of the venues in my area.
I would refer to each booking as the colour scheme of the wedding.

On top of that, I didn't really understand how to send an email that looked professional, friendly, warm and written in my tone of voice. I fumbled through business with this embarrassing lack of knowledge for quite some time, probably neglecting so many of my clients and leaving them feeling confused and overwhelmed along the process.

I really didn’t know the art of creating a beautiful client journey, and in turn, that actually created a lot of overwhelm for me. Email anxiety is a whole thing and I hated opening my laptop. I was drowning in admin and I was missing so many key touch points.

As my business grew and I started doing up to 50 weddings a year, it was unbearable. The back end of my business was a train wreck and I was the one responsible for it.

One day I looked back at all of the inquiries that I had lost out on booking, simply because I hadn't responded to them.
There was so much money left on the table, so many wasted opportunities, so many terrible client experiences.

That same day, I decided I was done with being that person and I was going to make a change! I researched and discovered this magical concept called a workflow, dug deeper and figured out that there are also platforms called CRMs that manage all of your customers. I was hooked on the efficiency and I hyper-focused on so many tutorials and set up an automated workflow.

A workflow is chain of emails, events and phone calls and forms that took my clients from inquiry all the way through testimonial without me having to sit and manually do the work.
I had the time, energy, and creativity again to focus on the parts of my business that I loved. My conversions increased and the ghosting reduced.

This allowed me to elevate my brand and scale so much further, while also ensuring that my brand tone of voice and consistency was there as well as making sure that my clients felt special and taken care of along every step.
It didn't matter if my brain was fried from the markets, if I was busy at a wedding, or if I was taking time off, my clients were being taken care of.

At this stage, my business was actually receiving 50 inquiries a month, and somehow I'd set up a system that allowed me to feel more free than ever.
I honestly felt like I'd rigged the system.

I’ve worked on over 700 weddings in my career, and I definitely know the difference between a ceremony and a reception now. I could tell you most venues in my area, and I'm friends with so many beautiful wedding vendors too.
I'm completely hooked on any form of automation, efficiency, and system in my business. It allows me to create the lifestyle and career that I adore.

The biggest lesson that I've learned on this whole journey is that it doesn't need to be that hard.

There are things that you can do in your business to make it so much easier. There are ways that you can get your time back and you absolutely can create your dream floral empire.
