Vase Review: Magnolia Vase from Clay Dance Studio

I recently picked up the Magnolia Vase by Clay Dance Studio, a studio based in Melbourne. The vase is fine porcelain and built by 3D Printing, very innovative!
This vase has actually been top of my list for a really long time as I've been wanting to get a collection of these for my upcoming wedding season. You guys know I love vases made by florists, and Clay Dance Studio is a collaboration between Tremella Botanicals and Osipov Studio.
Using 3D Printing, they're been able to make the texture so much more interesting. The shape reminds me of an ocean creature. It's very organic while also being modern and clean and creative.
After testing her out, here's my review:
Quality
These are handcrafted porcelain, which is both beautiful and fine. Given it's material, it still feels sturdy and solid, and don't feel super fine. I would give it a 10 out of 10 on the quality.
The website also states they are dishwasher safe! As a florist, you know, we love anything that makes it easy for us to use, transport and clean these babies. I'm a big fan of this.
Design
As a foam free florist, I love anything that has innovative design that allows me to not need many mechanics to hold my stems in place. This vase takes the cake.
It has these ridges along the vase, which nestle and hold in the stems and sit exactly where you want them. It allows you to create really beautiful sculptural and organic shapes, without needing chicken wire, foam or oshun pouches.
You do not need any of that when working with this vase.
Practicality
Practicality is so important when working in events. With this vase, I would actually prefer to design on site because I know that my designs would become loose organic, and I wouldn't want to damage the stems. There's no moving pieces or delicateness to the vase, so it allows you to transport it nice and easily.
The other aspect I love about this vase, is that you can build on it and add more and more vases to create larger shapes and scales. Or, you can have it quite simply on its own and it's stunning. It's going to go beautifully on a tablescape and I see these used across a whole range of wedding styles and aesthetics.
Price
The Magnolia Vase go for $70 AUD for the small, $110 AUD for the medium and $200 AUD for the large. I think this is fairly mid-range for custom Australian-made ceramics. It's not outrageous for me to buy a collection of these for my weddings as I know that I'll get my money back in terms of the amount of use I get out of these.
Overall, this vase is fast becoming one of my favourites. It's going to be perfect for so many of my upcoming jobs and I've got so many ideas on how to use it.
I literally just ordered 20 more, so I'm looking forward to getting those in my collection on the shelf and filled with flowers for all of my upcoming events!
