3 Ways to Build an Audience to sell flowers
It’s no surprise that building an audience is a key step in running a business.
If people can't see your business, how can they buy from you? More eyeballs means more flower sales.
For a florist, it involves a combination of online and offline strategies to connect with potential customers
I’ve been a florist for over 13 years. In that time, I’ve dabbled in a range of floristry types, think retail, freelancing and my current (and favourite) as a wedding florist.
Something I’ve learnt along that way is the power of creating a loyal following.
Here are three steps to help you build an audience:
Establish an Online Presence
Socials, website and marketing! These are ESSENTIAL ingredients to establishing your business and building a following.
Some of my top tips are:
- Share valuable content and showcase your expertise across multiple channels. We love TikTok, Instagram and Pinterest
- Engage with your audience by responding to comments, Asking questions and participating in conversations.
- Keep everything user-friendly and showcase your best work. The flowers you share is the type of work you will book!
Build Relationships and Collaborate
Wedding florist? Reach out to some wedding planners to partner with. Forming partnerships with these professionals can lead to referrals.
Retail florist? Reach out to local businesses in your area to collaborate. Offer bunches or installs, leave a stack of business cards for their customers, share the work on social media.
Online florist? Identify some local influencers and offer your florals for events or collaborations. This can help introduce your business to a wider audience.
Offer Special Promotions and Loyalty Programs
Run limited-time promotions or discounts, especially during holidays or special occasions. Think Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas!
Collect email addresses from your customers! These are an absolute asset to build your email marketing database and an easy way to keep them informed about upcoming promotions and seasonal offerings.
By combining a strong online presence, strategic collaborations and customer nurturing, you will see (and feel) the effects of building your audience in your floristry business. Don’t be afraid to go outside of the norm or your comfort zone. We all start somewhere!
